Granules Overview

SURFACE

Granules refer to the granulation of bulk drugs, which are dry granular preparations of a certain particle size made by mixing the drug with suitable excipients, and can be taken directly or in water. The above drugs include chemical drugs, extracts of traditional Chinese medicines and fine powders of medicinal herbs. Granules can be categorized into solution, effervescent and suspension granules, which can also be coated to form enteric granules, slow-release granules and controlled-release granules.

The dispersibility, agglomeration and hygroscopicity of granules are improved compared with that of bulk dosage, and the use of adhesives to prepare granules after mixing multiple ingredients can prevent the segregation of ingredients and facilitate storage and transportation.
